Part 9: The Liquidation Decree
Part 10 / 16Mr. Reichenbach turned the final heavy parchment page of the legacy trust portfolio.
He lifted his eyes to address the crumbling couple.
"Under the explicit statutory terms of the Irrevocable Legacy Trust," the attorney announced...
"Julian Vance’s equity shares..."
"His partnership stakes..."
"And all voting rights in parent companies and operating subsidiaries are forfeited immediately."
He paused, adjusting his glasses.
"Due to documented bad-faith conversion of corporate capital."
He turned to look at me.
"Every asset, including commercial real estate deeds, operating capital, and corporate bank balances totaling forty-two million dollars..."
"...transfers in full and without encumbrance to Clara Vance."
"No..." Julian whimpered.
He shook his head frantically, staring at the attorney in sheer denial.
"No, this is impossible!"
He pointed a trembling finger at me.
"I engineered the cold-storage supply chain expansion!"
"The logistics infrastructure is nothing without my leadership!"
"You can't just hand forty million dollars to an elementary school teacher!"
"The cold-storage expansion was financed using your father's personal credit guarantees," Mr. Reichenbach replied without an ounce of pity.
"And the uncollateralized theft of Clara’s childhood trust fund."
Julian went completely silent.
"Furthermore," Mr. Reichenbach added, "the commercial lease for this eighty-story penthouse headquarters is held under Arthur Vance’s personal name."
The attorney closed the folder with a deliberate snap.
"You and your wife have precisely forty-eight hours to vacate these premises."
Victoria looked as though she had been struck across the face by a physical blow.
Her face was chalk-white.
Her mouth opened and closed soundlessly like a fish out of water.
"Forty-eight hours?!" she finally shrieked.
"Every piece of our imported Italian furniture is in this penthouse!"
"My couture wardrobe!"
"My personal jewelry safe!"
"Your jewelry safe was purchased and stocked using direct corporate disbursements from Vance Logistics Reserve Account 409, Mrs. Vance," Agent Martinez interjected calmly.
He pulled a fresh set of documents from his folder.
"A federal seizure warrant and notice of *lis pendens* have already been attached to your residence in Greenwich."
"Your sports vehicles."
"And all domestic bank accounts under both of your names."
Victoria sank back against the wall, her knees shaking so badly she could barely stand.
