Part 5: The Secret Document
Part 6 / 16With practiced efficiency, Mr. Reichenbach sliced the red forensic tape on the folder.
He laid three identical, velvet-bound portfolios across the mahogany wood.
Running across the watermarked header of every single heavy cotton page was an embossed legal title none of us had ever encountered:
*The Arthur Vance Irrevocable Legacy Trust.*
Julian let out a desperate, hollow scoff.
He folded his arms tightly across his chest in a posture of brittle defiance.
"I don't care what kind of rogue trust paperwork you drafted in a nursing home basement, Reichenbach!"
Julian laughed harshly.
"It is legally null and void."
"The primary operating agreement of Vance Holdings LLC establishes that corporate succession passes automatically to the designated senior officer upon death."
He jabbed a finger at his own chest.
"An external trust cannot dismantle an operating corporate agreement!"
"It can when the operating agreement was funded using stolen collateral and falsified corporate proxies," Mr. Reichenbach said softly.
Julian’s sneer froze mid-breath.
The blood began draining from his cheeks.
Victoria shot a nervous, darting glance toward her husband.
Her polished facade was showing its first visible cracks.
"Julian..." she whispered, her voice trembling. "What is he talking about? What collateral?"
"He’s bluffing, Victoria," Julian barked through clenched teeth.
Yet a bead of cold sweat had begun forming at his hairline.
"The old man didn't know anything about the secondary credit vehicles. He was bedridden for half a year."
Mr. Reichenbach ignored the outburst completely.
He opened the master binding.
He cleared his throat.
And he began reading Arthur’s words in a steady, resonant cadence that commanded the room:
*"I, Arthur William Vance, being of sound mind, clear memory, and unclouded moral conviction, hereby revoke, annul, and declare null and void any and all prior wills, testaments, proxies, and corporate designations executed by me or on my behalf."*
Julian’s breathing grew ragged.
*"To my son, Julian Vance, who refused to answer my personal calls while quietly negotiating the backroom liquidation of my life’s work to predatory offshore syndicates..."*
Mr. Reichenbach paused, looking up at Julian.
*"...I leave precisely what his conscience dictated he offer his sister: three hundred dollars in cash."*
Victoria let out a breathless gasp.
Her designer handbag slipped from her limp fingers.
*Thud.*
It crashed onto the thick wool rug.
Julian stared at the veteran attorney.
His pupils dilated with incandescent rage.
The muscles in his jaw twitched so violently that the vein along his temple pulsed visibly beneath his skin.
"You bastard..." Julian hissed.
*"However,"* Mr. Reichenbach continued, unfazed, turning to the designated disposition protocol on page seven.
*"...the actual execution and final distribution of all corporate assets, properties, deeds, and liquid securities requires the formal unlocking of Master Deposit Box MCV-0914 at the Manhattan Central Vault."*
