Part 11: The Fall of the Heiress

Part 12 / 16

Victoria watched in sheer, unadulterated horror as her husband was pinned down and cuffed like a common criminal.

The sight shattered whatever remained of her social vanity.

Panic took full control.

She gathered her designer trench coat in her arms.

She spun around and bolted toward the heavy oak exit.

Desperate to slip into the private executive elevator bank before the floor staff gathered.

"Mrs. Vance," the second federal agent called out.

His voice was calm.

He stepped smoothly into the doorway, completely blocking her path.

Victoria froze mid-stride.

Her eyes darted like a trapped animal looking for a hole in the fence.

"I had nothing to do with his corporate maneuvers!" she screamed, her voice cracking.

"I’m just his wife!"

"I am a philanthropist!"

"I signed whatever financial disclosures his accountants placed in front of me at breakfast!"

The agent did not move.

Instead, he held up a certified bank disclosure form displaying her distinctive, flourishing signature.

"You co-signed seven foreign wire transfer authorizations totaling four point two million dollars."

He pointed to the routing details.

"Deposited directly into a private wealth account under your maiden name."

Victoria’s breath hitched.

"You are named as an active co-conspirator in the federal indictment for money laundering," the agent continued.

He unclipped a second pair of cuffs.

"Please turn around and place your hands behind your back."

"No... please..." Victoria sobbed.

Her knees gave out completely.

She sank onto the polished marble tiles of the foyer.

Her designer handbag spilled its contents across the floor.

*Click-clack.*

The second pair of steel cuffs clicked tightly around her manicured wrists.

In less than thirty minutes, the entire luxury facade had crumbled into ash.

The eighty-story penthouse that was supposed to serve as the throne room of their stolen empire had become their holding cell.

Julian was hoisted to his feet, disheveled, tears and sweat ruining his bespoke suit.

As they were escorted toward the elevators, every employee on the executive floor stood in dead silence, watching the mighty CEO fall.
